• Philosophy

Shortcuts aren’t our thing. You won’t find MDF, HDF, or acrylic in anything we make just real, sustainably sourced wood built to last and feel right at home on your table.

Every product has to pass one simple test: would we proudly use it ourselves? If the answer’s no, it doesn’t make the cut.

Fair pricing, honest materials, and no-nonsense quality are the foundation of everything we do. No gimmicks. No compromises. Just craftsmanship you can count on.

  • Materials I use

Sustainability is at the heart of how I choose my materials. A lot of the wood I use has already lived a full life as old furniture, reclaimed flooring or culled lumber. I re-mill and repurpose it, giving it new purpose instead of letting it end up in a landfill.

When salvaged wood isn’t an option, I stick to North American hardwoods mostly from within 200 miles of Arlington, VA. That keeps the supply chain tight, supports local mills, and ensures consistent quality.

Hardware like hinges and latches comes from U.S., Canadian, or European makers whenever possible. Unfortunately some things simply aren't made in the U.S. anymore, but I still prioritize regions where craftsmanship and durability are the standard.

  • How I do things

Every piece starts with a blend of old-school craftsmanship and modern precision. Hand tools like chisels and planes let me shape and finesse the details, while CNC machines and modern tools help keep things consistent.

This balance between traditional and modern techniques is how I get our unique designs.

Prototyping is a big part of the process, too. Before anything becomes a final product, it’s tested, tweaked, and refined to make sure it not only looks great but works exactly the way it should.

The end result? Pieces that feel just as good to use as they do to look at built with care, from start to finish.

How we started

The business traces its roots back to the Nova Open Convention in 2014, where I attended my first Blood Bowl tournament with friends. Traveling with all the gear made me realize how difficult it was to carry everything needed for the game—teams, dice, templates, and a pitch—without lugging around multiple bags. That frustration inspired me to design and build a custom pitch that solved the problem.

By the time the 2015 Nova Open rolled around, the project was complete and made its debut. The pitch not only streamlined storage and travel but also stood out for its craftsmanship and functionality. Other players immediately took notice, and before long I was being asked if I could make one for them. That early interest planted the first seeds of what would eventually become the business.

Fast forward to 2019: after many years of 70-hour work weeks in IT juggling a 24/7/365 on-call job, two kids, youth sports, and a wife with an equally demanding career; I finally hit a wall. Burnout forced me to take a month-long sabbatical to reset. During that time, I built out my full woodworking shop and came to a realization: it was time to leave IT behind and build a future that gave me more space for family, creativity, and balance.

From there, I chose to merge my three passions—woodworking, gaming, and engineering—into a new path. What began as a personal solution for tournament travel has grown into a creative venture dedicated to crafting high-quality, functional, and beautiful gaming accessories for players everywhere.

Owner

A native of Arlington, Va (7th generation), I grew up in a family of drywall, plaster, stucco and carpenters; at age 12 I was working on job sites with my father and grand father in the Northern VA, Southern MD and DC areas. For my entire life I've been building things for myself and others.

I built my first computer when I was 9 (XT 286) and first network (Token Ring) when I was 13. A Computer Engineer of 25+ years, I've worked for Startups, Federal Gov't and Commercial companies designing, building and deploying computer infrastructure and software systems.

I am an active gamer and not afraid to admit it! Currently, I play Blood Bowl (Games Workshop), Battletech, Gloomhaven, Warcry (Games Workshop) and Pen and Paper (Pathfinder and Starfinder from Paizo). I’ve also played Warhammer 40k, DnD (2e-3.5e), Shadowrun, GURPS, World of Darkness games, and countless other Pen and Paper RPGs. My family and I routinely play Tabletop Games like Settlers, Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, Pokemon TCG and many other games. The number of computer games I've played date all the way back to the commodore 64 and are too numerous to name.

I'm also a Youth Hockey coach of many years. This sucks up a good chunk of time during the winter as I travel to games and tournaments.
